Arms Control Association. A national nonpartisan membership organization dedicated to promoting public understanding of and support for effective arms control policies.
Beyond Nuclear. Focuses on the connections between nuclear power and nuclear weapons and the need to abandon both. Dr. Helen Caldicott, founding president.
Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Informs the public about threats to the survival and development of humanity from nuclear weapons, climate change, and emerging technologies in the life sciences.
Campaign for Nuclear Weapons Free World. A coalition of more than 100 organizations working together to promote practical steps today to free the world from nuclear weapons.
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. A private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States. Nonproliferation program deals with nuclear weapons.
Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. A non-partisan research organization dedicated to enhancing international peace and security in the 21st century. A sister organization of the Council for a Livable World.
Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Combats the spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by training the next generation of nonproliferation specialists and disseminating timely information and analysis.
Citizens for Global Solutions. Works for a future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms, and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone. Promotes a world without nuclear weapons.
Council for a Livable World. A non-partisan advocacy organization dedicated to reducing the danger of nuclear weapons and increasing national security. A sister organization of the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.
Federation of American Scientists. Provides timely, nonpartisan technical analysis on complex global issues that hinge on science and technology. Formed in 1945 by scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project.
Fourth Freedom Forum. A nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation focused on promoting freedom from fear through international cooperation based on the rule of law rather than relying on the use of force. Has a program on reducing nuclear dangers.
Global Security Institute. Seeks to strengthen international cooperation and security based on the rule of law, with a particular focus on nuclear arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. Founded by Senator Alan Cranston. Jonathan Granoff is president
Institute for Science and International Security. A nonpartisan organization dedicated to stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and reducing nuclear arsenals. David Albright is president.
Lawyers Alliance for World Security. A non-partisan, non-governmental organization concerned with the proliferation of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
Lawyers’ Committee on Nuclear Policy. An educational association of lawyers and legal scholars engaged in research and advocacy in support of the global elimination of nuclear weapons and a more just and peaceful world through respect for domestic and international law.
Natural Resources Defense Council. Deals with nuclear energy, waste, and weapons as part of its efforts to ensure a healthy environment for all on earth.
Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. Supports worldwide efforts to abolish nuclear weapons, strengthen international law and institutions, and inspire and empower a new generation of peace leaders. David Krieger is president.
Nuclear Control Institute. A research and advocacy center for preventing nuclear proliferation and nuclear terrorism. Founded by Paul Levanthal.
Nuclear Security Project. An initiative of George Shultz, William Perry, Sam Nunn, and Henry Kissinger.
Nuclear Threat Initiative. Seeks to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Sam Nunn and Ted Turner are co-chairmen.
Peace Action. A grassroots peace advocacy network with chapters and affiliates in 30 states. Evolved from SANE and Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign.
Physicians for Social Responsibility. A non-profit advocacy organization providing a medical and public health voice for policies to prevent nuclear war and proliferation and to slow, stop and reverse global warming and toxic degradation of the environment.
Henry L. Stimson Center. A nonpartisan institution devoted to enhancing international peace and security through rigorous analysis and outreach.
Student Pugwash USA. Works with students to promote social responsibility in science and technology.
Union of Concerned Scientists. A science-based nonprofit organization working for a healthy environment and a safer world.
Western States Legal Foundation. A non-profit, public interest organization which monitors and analyzes U.S. nuclear weapons programs and policies with a focus on the national nuclear weapons laboratories.
Women’s Action for New Direction (WAND). Empowers women to take political action to change national priorities toward peace and real security and away from militarism and violence.
World Security Institute. A non-profit organization committed to independent research and journalism on global affairs. Based in Washington, D.C., it maintains a satellite office in Moscow. One of its division is the Center for Defense Information. Bruce Blair is president.
